About

The Path Best Traveled is an independent local guide to North Carolina’s Research Triangle — Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill.

We write about the food worth crossing town for, the trails locals actually hike, the neighborhoods that surprise you, and the hidden gems that make the Triangle one of the best places to live in the Southeast.

This isn’t a visitor’s bureau brochure. Every recommendation comes from real experience — places we’ve been, food we’ve eaten, trails we’ve walked. If it’s on this site, it’s because we’d genuinely tell a friend about it.

What We Cover

  • Food & Dining — Coffee shops, taco spots, breweries, brunch, and the restaurants locals swear by
  • Outdoor & Nature — Hiking trails, lakes, greenways, day trips, and sunrise spots
  • Hidden & Offbeat — Street art, vintage shops, quirky experiences, and the stuff you won’t find on the first page of Google
  • Events & Nightlife — Live music, comedy, First Friday, and what’s actually worth going out for

Who’s Behind This

The Path Best Traveled is created by Kelvin, a Triangle local who got tired of generic “Top 10” lists written by people who’ve never been here. This site is the guide he wished existed when he first moved to the area — and the one he keeps building for everyone who lives here now.
