This Week in the RTP — Monday Jun 15, 2026 – Thursday Jun 18, 2026

The weekend’s over, the humidity isn’t — here’s what’s worth leaving the AC for between now and Thursday.

Featured This Week

Evanescence, Spiritbox & Nova Twins — Wednesday, Jun 17

Coastal Credit Union Music Park at Walnut Creek, 3801 Rock Quarry Rd, Raleigh. 7:00 PM. Tickets required (reserved seats and lawn).

This is the big one this week. Amy Lee brings the Evanescence world tour to Walnut Creek with two genuinely inspired support acts — Spiritbox, who’ve become one of the most talked-about heavy bands going, and UK trio Nova Twins. If you’re going, the lawn is the move on a warm June night, but get there early because the parking crawl at Walnut Creek is real and the lot funnels everyone onto Rock Quarry Road at once. Bring a refillable water bottle (check the venue’s current bag policy first) and plan to sweat — this amphitheater holds the heat well past sunset.

N.C. Symphony: Patriotic Pops (Free) — Thursday, Jun 18

The Green at Southern Village, Chapel Hill. 8:00–10:00 PM. Free and open to the public, no tickets required.

The opposite end of the week’s energy spectrum, and arguably the better value. The North Carolina Symphony plays “Patriotic Pops: Celebrating America 250” outdoors on the Southern Village green, conducted by Sophie Mok with vocalist Taylor Troyer — Sousa’s “The Stars and Stripes Forever,” John Williams’ “Liberty Fanfare,” the “Armed Forces Salute,” and more. Bring a blanket or low chair, pack a picnic, and stake out grass before dusk. “Free, outdoor, full symphony” is a hard combination to beat — arrive 45 minutes early for a flat spot near the front.

Durham Bulls vs. Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp — Tue–Thu

Durham Bulls Athletic Park, 409 Blackwell St, Durham. Tue Jun 16, 6:45 PM · Wed Jun 17, 12:05 PM (day game) · Thu Jun 18, 6:45 PM. Tickets required.

The Bulls open a homestand against Jacksonville right in the middle of the week. The Wednesday 12:05 PM start is the sleeper pick — a midweek day game is the kind of small rebellion the DBAP was made for, and tickets are easy. For the evening games, the grass berm down the right-field line is still the best cheap seat in the Triangle. Concourse beers run high, so eat before if you’re budgeting.

Also Happening

  • Tom Keifer (Cinderella) with L.A. Guns — The Ritz, 2820 Industrial Dr, Raleigh. Thursday, Jun 18, doors 7:00 PM. Ticketed. Big-hair-era nostalgia done loud.
  • Cary Summer Concert Series — Waverly Place, 575 New Waverly Pl, Cary. Wednesday, Jun 17, 5:30–8:30 PM. Free. Weeknight live music with room for the kids to run; come early for a good patch of lawn.

Closing Thoughts

It’s a top-heavy week — Wednesday and Thursday carry almost everything, so Monday and Tuesday are your nights to catch up on sleep or hit a quiet weekday patio before the crowds. The real call is Wednesday: you can do Evanescence loud and late, or trade it for the free Cary lawn show and a Bulls day game earlier. Either way, this is the stretch of June where the humidity stops being a rumor — hydrate, park in the shade, and keep next Friday open, because Juneteenth weekend lands right after this.
